Police seize fake saffron in Srinagar
Srinagar, Feb 4 (ANI): Police seized fake saffron worth millions of rupees from Pampore in Jammu and Kashmir Pulwama district
Acting on certain complaints and specific inputs, police personnel raided a place and seized fake saffron.
They also arrested five persons involved in formulating and marketing such fake saffron.
“We had received information in the month of January that some people here are producing fake saffron by dying corn fibre and drying marigold flowers and adulterating it into original saffron,” said Kamal Saini, Deputy Inspector General of Police (South Kashmir Range).
“Till now, we have received one quintal of adulterated saffron. This adulterated saffron was sold in various states as the demand of saffron is high and production is less,” he added. (ANI)
